I'm BAAAAACCCCCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKK

I know you all missed me. HA HA HA

The first thing to say is that my sister is fine. She got some food poisoning, and was put in the hospital for dehydration. After 4 bags of fluids through an IV, she could eat again without getting sick, so it’s all good. She came home from the hospital on Sunday, and actually made it to the beach with us on Monday.  We made her drink lots of Gatorade, but she seems fine. And the doctors all checked Colin (her son to be) and he seems fine in there too. She is 34 weeks pregnant this week, so it won’t be too much longer before we get to meet my nephew!! YAY

We went to Hilton Head for a few days as a family vacation. It was nice, but VERY VERY hot. It’s quite warm here right now, and the beach was even hotter. I did good with the sunscreen though, and I’m not sunburned one bit. Which if you know me, is a freaking miracle, because I burn like dry toast in a hot oven. CRISPY is usually how I end up. J  The very best part of the vacation was going to eat at Paula Dean’s The Lady and Sons restaurant in Savannah. The food was AMAZING. We all ate until we were sick, but it was totally worth it. And I got to check out Savannah for a bit, and that was fun because I’ve never been there before.

That’s about it for me. I’ve got a lot to catch up at work. Joy and happiness. I guess I should be glad I have a job, but part of me still wishes I was at the beach!!   Hopefully I will have photos to post later this week….

Why I love TKD

Tae Kwon Do, how do I love thee? Let me count thy ways!!

1. Kicking things makes me feel better.
2. Sweating makes me feel gross, but less fat.
3. When you are getting kicked, you can't think about what the stupid adoption agency lady told you.
4. When you are done being kicked, you are too tired to care that you were worried in the first place!!
5. I always wanted Jackie Chan to be my adopted grandpa, and doing TKD makes me think if I ran into him in an elevator we could have a conversation and I could pretend he was my grandpa. (yes, I think about weird crap like that)

I just love my TKD. I really really do. I was all freaking out before, and now I'm all worn out and happy. I will sleep good tonight. Maybe I should do TKD everyday! In any case, I'm pulling a Scarlett O'Hara tonight, and I'm just not going to worry about it anymore. I'll worry about it tomorrow.

NO ANSWERS!

I do not want to fire my adoption agency. But the chic I talked to this afternoon was not filling me with warm fuzzy feelings of confidence and knowledge. Almost all the questions I asked this lady I got an answer “I don’t know”  Not, I’m not sure, let me check but I DON’T KNOW.  Well if you don’t know, who does???  I’m about to give myself a panic attack.  I need to calm down.

She did just email me with some actual answers, so I guess that is something. It’s just. Sheesh, this is a whole big scary PRODUCTION and I want these people to be the ones who say, Don’t Worry, No Problem, Will Fix it, I know just what to do. That is their JOB!!! Right???

I can’t wait for Tae Kwon Do tonight. I need to kick something. HI YA! Nothing like beating a bag to relieve the stress. J  Everyone should do Tae Kwon Do. The world would be much less chaotic if we could all whack something inanimate once in awhile.

Questions...

I sent an email to my adoption agency last night because I have a BUNCH of questions about junk.  I’m starting to freak out a little bit about how little my agency has told me. They pretty much sent me a book of instructions and have left me alone.  So anyway, I will be getting a call this afternoon and hopefully some peace of mind.  There just seems like there is so much that could go wrong and I want everything to go RIGHT the first time!!

Fingerprint CHECK!

YAY I’m done being fingerprinted!!  It was kind of a strange process; they don’t use ink at all. They just roll your fingers over this little screen, like at the supermarket and they ring you up. It was like they rang up my fingers. The cool thing was that you could see my fingerprints enlarged on the screen. The woman who did it kept rolling my fingers around, trying to get it to cover a certain amount of space. It was strange.  And to those of you, who haven’t gone yet for this bit, bring something to read. I was there over an hour just sitting around like you do at the DMV.  Also like the DMV, the application services place is run by mean, low IQ people. Please explain something to me. If EVERYONE who comes there to be fingerprinted speaks SPANISH, then shouldn’t the employees be required to be bilingual???  This one mean woman, who by the way, looked like a large toad (very Umbridge-ish!!) kept yelling at people to stop touching things and to sit down. She also yelled at you if your cell phone RANG. Like you weren’t allowed to let the phone RING for heaven’s sake. Never mind that there are no signs up anywhere that you have to turn off your cell phone.  And she knew they didn’t understand her, so she just started shouting the same thing louder and louder. I kept thinking you MORON! They aren’t DEAF, they don’t speak English! There is no need to be that way. Good Grief.  I wanted to smack her toady face.  I hate when people do that. I agree that you should learn English if you live in this country, but my God, they are in the IMMIGRATION OFFICE!!! They aren’t supposed to speak English yet!!!

People suck.  But I am done with my fingerprinting, and now I’m done with my venting, so it’s all good. J

Fingerprinting

I get to be fingerprinted this afternoon. NA NA NA BOO BOO!! I know you’re jealous. You want to pretend to be a criminal too!

Anyway, that is the big news from me. Other than that, I know my home study is in the “review” process, being reviewed by the main dude(or dudette in this case) in charge at the home study agency. Then they send it to me, hopefully this week, and I review and send it to my adoption agency and then THEY review it. Then once we all agree, we can send it to the happy BCIS people and then they can give me my approval. Right? Isn’t that how it’s supposed to go?

Not much else to report. My back is feeling AWESOME, and for that I am grateful.  I am no longer a Miss Cranky Pants because of that. (I’m sure you are all relieved) I’ve gotten over my Harry Potter Depression and now am curious about book 7. AND best yet, only 2 days to the weekend, and this weekend I’m going to HILTON HEAD!! WOO HOO!! Sun, sand, drinks, vacation food. What’s not to love???

Monday ...need I say more?

YES, I am a very fast reader.I'm not a robot though!! And yes, I read every word and I understand everything I read the first time I read it. (someone actually asked me if I read for comprehension and I was like, why the hell would you continue to read if you weren’t comprehending?? But I digress…) I’ve always been a fast reader and I didn’t stay up all night reading Harry, I actually only read for about 2 hours, went to sleep and started reading the next morning around 9:30 or so. Anyway now that is all cleared up. I’m still sad this book ended the way it did. Now I just have to wait another 2 or 3 years to find out what happens to Harry next! That is the one bad thing about reading so fast. I have so much longer to wait for the next one!

The rest of my weekend was okay. I went to see War of the Worlds Sat night with some friends. I found it pretty scary and disturbing. It gave me nightmares to be honest. I don’t like scary movies. I am a big sci-fi fan, but this was a little too much for me. It did have some very cool special effects, but I would not watch it again. Yesterday I had some friends over for blueberry pancakes, made with blueberries I picked with my Mom last weekend. Then we went out on Lake Wylie and raced around in Slyvia’s boat. I got pretty sunburned, even though I had on sunscreen(curse this Irish skin!) It was fun to be out on the water and to go swimming. The sunburn was totally worth it!

Now I’m at work facing a whole week with my boss on vacation. (happy dance!!) I like my boss, but everyone likes it when their boss is away, right? Hee hee I’m still not fully awake yet, (I overslept again!) but I’m sure that will change. Hope everyone is having a groovy Monday.

Done with Harry

I finished the new Harry Potter about an hour ago. I'm going to try not to give anything away, but I am thoroughly depressed by the end of this book. I mean BUMMED OUT. It was by far and away the best book, and also the worst book. *sigh* Some of my predictions came true, and some of them didn't, but i don't want to ruin it for anyone. I'm going to try and take my mind off of stuff...so bummed. I should have bought another book, to keep me busy now.

okay...off to mope some more. *sigh*

HOORAY FOR HARRY!!

Attention all Geeks! (and by geeks I mean ME, and most of my friends!)   Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince comes out TONIGHT!! WOO HOO!!!    I love the Harry! I was so excited last night I could hardly sleep. It was the same way I felt when I was a kid and it was the night before the first day of school. Know what I mean? (I liked school, so there were only excited butterflies!)

So I am having friends over tonight to watch some Harry Potter movies, and then we are going to the bookstore at Midnight to get our copies of the book. Yes, I know, I’m 30 years old. I totally don’t care. I want to read this book!!

Here are my predictions for this book.

  1. Ron & Hermione get together
  2. Snape teaches Defense against the Dark Arts
  3. the Half Blood Prince is a new character OR Godric Gryffindor (I can’t make up my mind)
  4. Snape dies saving Harry.
  5. Harry falls for Ginny Weasley.

OK…those are my predictions. If you’re a fan, I would love for you to tell me some of yours! Leave a comment please!!

Have a great Harry Friday y’all!!

Oh Happy Day

Today I got an email from my social worker saying she had finished writing up my home study. YIPPPEE SKIPPPEE!! She sent it to her boss yesterday to review, so I should see it next week, to proof read. This is so cool. It’s like a BIG thing to be checked off my list. YAY YAY YAY…happy dance. Plus she said really nice stuff about me in the email….like this “I thoroughly enjoyed sharing this part of your journey with you.  You are an inspiring woman and I wish you well in all your endeavors. “   ooooh ahhhh.

Work today will include my performance review, which hopefully will go well. I’m not too worried. I get all my stuff done and then some. But it always makes you nervous, no?  I break out in red splotchy hives all over my neck and chest whenever I get upset and/or nervous. I wish I had worn a turtleneck today, even though it’s 8 million degrees out. I do better if no one knows how I’m feeling. I can keep my mouth shut, but it’s no good if my skin gives me away. *sigh*  No use complaining, this is the skin I came in! Anyway, wish me luck.

And I’m adding my prayers and support to Karen & Scott today. www.journeytogwen.blogspot.com They are dealing with one nasty rude person who is trying to rain on their parade, proving once again that stupid people should be turned into fertilizer.  Hang in there guys! I’m with you all the way!  J

My better mood!

I am in such a better mood today. I slept the whole night, got up on time to shower, made it to work without stressing out. :-) AND, best news today, I went to Tae Kwon Do last night (HI- YA!) and managed a decent workout and my back was fine. And I'm still fine this morning. YIPPPEEE!!!
I love Wednesdays. They are my favorite day of the week.

Only TWO DAYS to the next Harry Potter book. I'm having a Harry Potter Party on Friday (say that 3 times fast!) with some girlfriends. We are going to watch a couple of Harry movies and then go to Boarders at midnight and get our copies of the newest HP book. I'm so cool Aren't you jealous? hee hee

THE LIST

Some people are like Slinkies ... Not really good for anything, But they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs.

Do you have a list of people that in a perfect world you could totally tell off and not face any consequences???  Just BLOW up on their stupid butts, and not have to worry about them killing you later? I so totally have a list. A LONG list.  Unfortunately, there seems to be a never ending supply of stupid people that I have to add to my list. (for instance, I added someone this morning and it’s not even 10!!)

Someone tell me they have a list like this!! Please share with me and make me feel better about myself!!!

My Fun Weekend

I had a very good weekend. Firstly, my back hardly bothered me at all and that made me very happy! The lack of free movement for the last 2 weeks was making me pretty cranky, but that is a thing of the past. WOO HOO!

My fun weekend started Friday night when I went to the mall with my good friend Rachel and I bought a very cute PINK leather purse on sale! I love sales. Rachel and I are bad shopping buddies, because we totally talk each other into buying everything. Anyway, we did our part to help the economy and that is what counts! Then to continue the economic growth spurt, I went yard sale shopping with my friend Shannon early Sat morning. That was fun, although I think we looked more at the houses then the crap they were selling. LOL I did get some children’s size folding chairs in primary colors. They were new, and 4 chairs for 10.00 so I thought that was a good deal.  Shannon had never ever been to a yard sale before. I can’t even believe that. Not that I live & die yard sales, but…looking at other people’s junk is fun!  We have convinced ourselves to have one of our own yard sales, maybe later this fall.

Then I drove all the way to Winston, hung out with Mom & Dad, and had MORE fun time with Karen. We went out to dinner, and had a blast! Even though our waiter was kinda crappy, I still had a good time.  Sunday morning Mom and I got up early and went blueberry picking. Yummy! But let me tell you, I’m SOOO glad I’m not a migrant worker. That is hard, hot work. But, I did get to eat fresh blueberries in my cereal this morning, so that was worth it. I just wouldn’t want to do that every day, all day.

Now, I’m back to my boring life of work and tae kwon do. At least I can move without being in pain, so Yippee!

Still Alive

I’m still alive over here. My back is getting to be normal feeling again. I went to the chiropractor last night and he snapped me around pretty good. I was very sore last night, but this morning I feel the best I’ve felt in 2 weeks. Hopefully this feeling will last longer than a day!  I am not good at taking it easy. It makes me insane to just sit around and not do anything, and I’ve been forced to do just that for too long now.

We had a nasty, scary thunderstorm yesterday, courtesy of tropical storm Cindy. The news that there is another hurricane out there just waiting to attack does not make me warm and fuzzy inside. I lost my power last night for about 3 hours. I LOVE ELECTRICITY.  I am not Laura Ingalls, let me tell you that!  I lit some candles and then spent some time outside in the twilight playing cards with my neighbors. That was pretty fun.  But I was really glad when the power came back on at 9 pm. I require air conditioning. LOL

This weekend I’m going to run around like a mad woman, and do too many things at once. I can’t wait! I’ve had way too much time to lie around and do nothing!  Hope everyone has as much fun as I plan to cram into my weekend! Hee hee!

Fingerprinting

Just about when I had decided to start calling people, I got my appointment to be fingerprinted. I’ve never been so psyched to prove I’m not a criminal. HA HA HA. I checked the mail on Saturday, in between wedding events and there was the happy envelope. If it took more than a month for them to send me my appointment to be fingerprinted, I am totally dreading the wait for the 171 forms.  Good lord.  Anyway, I have an appointment now, so I’m going to try to just think about one thing at a time. I also did some happy adoption paperwork, re-read my big book of instructions for like the 10th time and realized that the criminal back ground check I got, I don’t think is going to be sufficient. It is only for the county I live in, not the state. *sigh* I will have to call someone and ask about that.

The reason I had so much time to do happy adoption paperwork is that my back is still hurting me. It seemed to move from my neck to my lower back, and now I have shooting pains down my leg. Joy & happiness.  I spent the majority of my weekend flat on my back with a heating pad and many pain pills.  I’m breaking down and calling a chiropractor this morning, because everyone and there brother tells me that I should. I’m not a fan of chiropractors, mostly because they want to see you over and over and over again. I want to walk in, get fixed and go home. I don’t want repeat performances.  However, if that is what it takes, then fine.  I hate being in pain like this, it makes me cranky. Plus, I spent the whole weekend freaking myself out thinking what will I do if this happens when I have Emily.  If I can barely stand up without screaming in pain, how on earth would I have taken care of her too? I guess I would have had to call for reinforcements.  I don’t like asking for help, but I better get used to it, right? I mean, how else will I do this?  Luckily I know a bunch of people in Charlotte now, most of whom would come help me at the drop of a hat, so that is a comfort.

Hope everyone had a safe and fun 4th. J

Baby Shower Fun

The below is a photo from my sister's recent baby shower. That's me on the floor, and her highness is in the chair, surrounded by gifts. It was a very large shower, and she got a lot of very nice, thoughtful gifts. It was a really fun day, although I needed a nap afterwards!

My sister's baby shower. Look at all the loot!  Posted by Picasa
