Another Day

I haven’t been blogging as much here lately. Not that I don’t have things to say, but, well they aren’t that interesting.  I’ve spent most of the last couple weeks packing up my house so that it looks open and decluttered and simultaneously trying to make my house more beautiful so someone will buy it. If you’ve never done this before, let me just tell you, those things DO NOT go together!  How can my house be more beautiful if half of my closet is spilled out everywhere so I can squish everything into a couple of boxes?   It is very overwhelming.  I own so much junk. Just plain and simple junk.  So, I’m also trying to go through and throw things out and/or donate to Goodwill or the Kidney foundation or something. I’ve been to Goodwill 6 times. SIX TIMES, and I have another giant box in my car right now for yet another trip.  I had no idea I was this much of a pack rat. It’s very disconcerting to learn this now!! I’m too old to change my ways!!

Not that everything is horrible. I mean, cleaning out junk is sort of fulfilling. As is sealing up a full box worth of stuff I’m actually keeping.  I always get a little thrill of satisfaction from that. Like CHECK one thing done. Check!   And, as an extra bonus, I’ve been using the heck out of my Dyson, which still works beautifully.  And the hose thingy is awesome. I sucked up cobwebs without climbing a step stool, and that is huge!   But I have to admit, packing up all of Emily’s clothes and stuff did make me a little sad. I know it will be worth it once we move, but it’s sort of depressing to have her closet be empty now. No more fun baby stuff lying around. All her dollies in boxes.  On the other hand, it has definitely taken my mind off of rumors and referrals for a few weeks.  I’m too tired at night to obsess overmuch about where she is and when I will get her.

Anyways, that’s the update from me.  I’m sure I’ll have more interesting stuff to talk about shortly. Meanwhile, bear with me.

My Nephew the Big Boy!

I got to see my sister and nephew this weekend. I haven't seen them in a few months, what with one thing and another cropping up. It was shocking to see how much bigger Colin is in so short amount of time. Here...see for yourself!!

YAY!

I got my second I171H approval last week. I tried to post the pic then, but blogger wasn't co-operating. OOOH AHHH...I'm officially allowed to bring Em home (again!)

Couldn't you just cry?

I saw This on Good Morning America this morning.  The poor birdies in the rain forest!  They are so used to hearing buzz saws cutting down their trees, that they’ve starting mimicking buzz saws. That’s so not right!!  Go take a look/listen at the video stream.  It is CRAZY!

Poor rain forest, getting demolished every day.  Save the trees!!! Click here every day!!

It's HERE!!

Our new Dyson is here!! YAY! I've never been so excited to vacuum in my life.

Here is T getting it out of the box.

Sooo many pieces! Ugh, how do you get this thing together?

OOOH AHHHH Complete!!

So I gave it a test spin. It is AWESOME. I'm totally telling you all to go out and get one. I have a dog who weighs 66 lbs, 60 of which are shedding hair. I'm not even kidding, this dog sheds more hair then any other dog i've ever seen! But the dyson just sucked it all up. The first time!! With my old vacuum, I'd have to over the same spot 5 or 6 times to get the hair up. I'm loving life right now. Even T wanted to try it. He is very impressed. OOOH AHHH. Be jealous bloggy peeps! I have a Dyson!!!

Too Much of a Good Thing?

So last night T and I decide we want Chinese food.  I whip out my cell and pull up the number of the local place down the street from me.  Yes, they are programmed in my phone.   So I call and say hi, this is Shannon, I’m calling to place a pick up order.  And the girl goes, Hi Shannon, steamed dumplings and egg drop soup?   BUSTED, I call the Chinese place way, WAY too much if they recognize my order just from my voice!    We actually branched out and got something else last night, but mostly it was because I felt bad that I get the same thing every time!!

I must remember that eating Chinese food does not, in fact, bring me closer to Emily. It just raises my salt intake. HA HA HA

2 Crummy Days

Well it is official. The CCAA only matched 2 days of LIDs this batch of referrals. It appears that they did the same (roughly) NUMBER of referrals, but it was just that there were that many people logged in during 2 days.  I suppose I am a Nervous Nelly.  I have every reason to believe that all of November is as heavily loaded with people as these last 2 days were.  So what does that mean for us? Either they start sending out MORE babies every batch then they currently are doing, or, they will spend the next 8 to 10 months giving out 2, 3, or 4 days at a time until they get through November 2005.  Writing it down like that, it doesn’t seem very realistic that they would spend that long doing 1 month.  So…let’s say, they even do it in half that time. That still would be another 4 to 5 months to get through November.  UGH.  So, below is my Worst Case Scenario Timeline, based on nothing more than my fears and multiplication.

New Releases                Covering LIDs

May batch                     Oct 27-31, 2005

June Batch                   Nov 1-6, 2005

July Batch                     Nov 7-9, 2005

Aug Batch                     Nov 10-16, 2005

Sept Batch                    Nov 17-21, 2005

Oct Batch                      Nov 22-26, 2005

Nov Batch                     Nov 27- Dec 2, 2005

Dec Batch                     Dec 3- 9, 2005

See, ok. They totally will not do this. They will not make me wait 2 years. TWO YEARS?!?!  It is inconceivable. I’m glad I wrote it all down, because it just shows me how unlikely it really is. If they made me wait 2 years, then the poor folks logged in after me would end up waiting like 5 years. And they won’t do that. That is just crazy talk.

However, I do know that this very small batch (days wise) will definitely mean that even if they went right back to doing 10-11 days at a time, it still would be September before I got a referral. *sigh*  One month forward, one month pushed back.

For those of you who may not know, when I started this process, they were matching roughly a month of LIDs for every batch of referrals.  To go from 30 days to 2 days is insane!! and definitely not what I signed up for.  Yes, there are reasons why waiting this long is good. But it is also bumming me out man!  I feel so badly for the folks that were LID the very end of Oct that thought for sure they were going to get a referral this month. Man that would stink. My heart goes out to you guys. Hang in there. I hope next month things improve.

16 Months LID

Today makes 16 months that I've been LID. SIXTEEN MONTHS PEOPLE! It's been a long wait.

Easter was nice. I didn't get to see my family this year, as unfortunately, both my sister and her son were sick. (but for different reasons) We are going to see each other next weekend, which I am very much looking forward too. I haven't seen my nephew since January, and I need a Colin Fix. The good thing is now he can say HI! to me on the phone. That is, if nothing else distracts him or he doesn't push all the buttons on the phone and hang up on me!! But still, hearing his super cute baby voice say HI-EEE just fills me with happiness.

However, my Easter was really nice in spite of not seeing my family, because we got to spend it with part of Tony's family. His sister Lisa cooked a gorgeous roast with all sorts of yummy fixings. It was delish, and we had a good time spending the afternoon with them. Her son Jake let T and I play his Wii (which is a computer game Mom) and it's like virtual bowling. You hold the remote thingy, and move it with your arm, and then it moves the ball for you on the screen. So very cool. I LOVE it! So much fun. T & I decided we absolutely have to get one of these things. I am a great Wii bowler. I scored a 195!! In real live bowling, I'm lucky to get a 60. HA! Plus, I beat Tony and that was great. HA HA HA (he will kill me for putting this on the World Wide Web!! but hey, my blog, my gloating allowed!)

So that's it from me. I'm not as bummed/upset about the 16 month LID anniversary as you think I would be. Must be because I'm too filled up with delicious food to care too much!!

Hope everyone had a super Easter!

Too Much Harry

Since the 7th and final Harry Potter book is coming out in July (YAY!) I have decided that I need to re-read all the Harry books 1-6 before then in order to be prepped.  I’m on book 4, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.  They are good books. Even as re-reads, when I know what is going to happen next, they are still really good books.  But I may be taking the Harry thing too far. Last night I dreamed I was eating sushi with Dumbledore.  It was very strange. And it looked a lot more like worm quesadillas then sushi.  In my waking life, I love sushi. Not so much the worm quesadillas.  I’m not sure where that image even came from! But maybe I’ve been watching the Food network too much!!

This is the cover of the next Harry book. It came out last week.  I’m so excited. Only a few more months to a new book! And it’s a much more reliable countdown then trying to figure out when my referral is going to come!

Rumors, Rumors everywhere

Well, I had hoped that by today we would know the cut off of the “new releases” for this month.  But it turns out we know nothing and it seems apparent that we won’t know anything until next week. *SIGH*  I always get excited about referral time, because I’m anxious to see how far into the 2005 calendar they get with matching. The further into November they get, the quicker I get my referral.   I shouldn’t get this worked up, because it is still a few months away for me, but I can’t seem to help it.

Still looks like July or August for me. Which is only 3 or 4 months left. WOO HOO!  I can count on my fingers people! That is big news.

Other than that, not much is going on.  Same ole, same ole.   But boring is good. Soon enough, life with Emily will completely take over, and the days of not much going on will be gone with the wind, right?  Hopefully this will happen while I still have my youth. Come on referrals!!
