Blogger Slacker
I haven’t felt much like blogging lately. I have a lot going on and fun stuff to share with you, I’m just not in the mood lately. I think it’s because I can’t see blogs at work anymore. It just took all the fun out of it. It shouldn’t be that way, but it was how I decompressed for a bit during the day. Boo! The good news/bad news is that I am hoping to find out this week or next (but hopefully this week) when my official last day at work will be. I’m thinking it will be the end of June. I’m still looking for another job, but it’s not going that well. Something will turn up, I’m sure. I just have to have a little more patience. Luckily, I have actually learned to have some patience with the whole waiting for 2 years for Emily. So what do you know, it was good for something!
Emily is just a joy. I have 100s of photos that I need to upload, so I can show you how big she is getting and how much hair she has now. She was practically bald when we got her, but she actually has enough hair to brush now. It’s not long enough to put in clips, but it should be by the end of the summer. I have a whole drawer full of hair bows and barrettes, so I’m ready for it!
That’s it for now. Maybe tonight I’ll get a little motivated and do some stuff. Wouldn’t that be nice?

Unbelievable
Well Little Miss Emily has certainly changed my mind about day care. I dropped her off this morning. First, she reaches out for the teacher. Then I go to kiss her good bye and she PUSHES ME AWAY!! Can you believe it?!?! She loves the redneck teacher!! And she really is a nice girl. Just smelly with a tongue ring. But she really is good with Emily so I have nothing to complain about. Emily continues to amaze and delight us every single day. She now uses her little push car thing to chase Tony all over the living room. It’s hysterical. She loves to “get” him, ie, plow into him with the car! They both die laughing. It’s soo soo cute.
Blogger was misbehaving last week so I’m going to keep this short to see if it actually works. If it does, tons more to come!

Big Girl School
Well this morning Emily starts her first full day in “big girl school” ie, the toddler room at day care. This week she has been spending a few hours every day there, so she can get used to the teachers and room and other kids. I like her new room a lot. It’s got a lot more big kid toys in it and as soon as Emily can walk, she can go outside every day it’s nice. So that’s really good. I’ve had the chance this week to meet her afternoon teacher. She’s a doll and I really like her a bunch. A very nice lady and she seems really good with Emily. However, this morning I met her morning teacher. OK. I guess I am a judgemental sort of person after all. Is it bad of me that I was repulsed by this girl? She’s very young. Which I don’t really mind. In fact, I think 18 year olds are probably the only people on the planet that have the energy to be dealing with a room full of toddlers!! But she was obviously white trash. She reeked (and I mean REEKED) of cigarette smoke, her teeth were yellow and her tongue was pierced. With a big old giant tongue stud or whatever hanging through it. It was totally disgusting. I was very nice to her, but when I left I couldn’t help wondering what kind of person I was leaving Emily with. There is another teacher in there of course, but I didn’t get to meet her yet. Should I say something, or should I just realize that tongue piercings do not make a bad day care worker? Ugh. She SEEMED really sweet. She just smelled bad and was kind of creepy looking. I guess I should get over myself.
This week has been long at work. I met with a head hunter earlier in the week, so hopefully, he can help me find a new job. I’m having to have tons of meetings now about how to transfer my work to other people. It’s degrading and aggravating and stressful. More so because all the people that are having to learn all my stuff think it’s so ridiculous that they are eliminating my position. *sigh* I’m dealing with it ok I guess. I just want it to be over now.
In happy news, my friend Sara called this morning and she is coming to visit us in May!! YAY!!! Sara and I met when I did a semester in Spain during college. She is one of my dearest friends, and I have been dying for her to meet Emily! I’m sooo excited!! Happy Friday Dance!!

Random Stuff. Pretend it's related to each other.
Jody’s wedding was a TON of fun. I impressed Tony big time with my super groovy moves on the dance floor. He particularly got a kick out of dancing to “Baby Got Back” and we both decided that this song will definitely be played at our wedding. Jody looked gorgeous and I think the whole thing went very well. I wish them a lot of happiness.
Emily did GREAT with Grammy and Grandpa. She had a very good time, and she came home all smiles and claps. It turns out that Emily also likes to shake her groove thing, she definitely has a shoulder shrug dance move down. It’s soo funny. I also think it’s funny when she shakes her head NO at me. I know it won’t always be funny, but right now, it’s cracking me up. The other big news with Emily is that she starts in the “transistion to toddler” room next week. She is way older than all the kids in the baby room she’s in now. She’s not bigger, she’s just older. She is the only one left in there that can stand up on their own, and defintely the only one that claps and says YAY when we come to pick her up at night! So this week, she goes over to her new room every day for a few hours, so she can get used to the teachers and the other little kids. Most of the kids in there were in her baby room, so she already knows them.
I actually did ok without Emily this weekend. I thought about her a lot and I called a few times just to make sure everything was going ok. But all in all, I think I did really well. I was though, REALLY excited to get her back on Sunday! I spent about an hour just hugging her and giving her kisses.
I joined a local online Mommies group a few weeks ago. They seem like a nice bunch (so far). I feel kind of bad, since I don’t haunt RQ quite as much. I still check it a couple times a day (old habits are hard to kick!) but it’s not like the obsession it was a few months ago! Anyways, I met in real life one of the mommies last night and we did an evening of scrapbooking. It was fun. I’m finally starting work on Emily’s lifebook. For those of you not in adoptionland, a lifebook is like a baby book. It tells the story of how Emily and I became a family. Traditional baby books don’t really work for our situation. So, I’m making her own book about her story. I did two whole pages last night, I’m very impressed with myself. And of course, now I have a giant list of scrapbook things I need to buy! I’m hoping to be able to find 2 nights a month to work on this, so I can get it done before she goes to college. HA HA HA
And finally, congrats to all the families that recently got referrals! It’s such an exciting time and I’m happy for everyone that got to see their baby’s face for the first time yesterday (or today!) It really stinks that they only did till the 9th though. It makes me so mad when I think about it. I have a friend from my single Mom’s group who has a late January 06 LID. It just breaks my heart to think that she might not see her baby until July or Aug. UGH what a nightmare. I hope everyone can hang in there. I’d be losing my mind if my LID was after April 06. I think I would bail to be honest. It just seems like such torture. And I’m telling you right now, I adore Emily. But I would never do that again. I would never willing sign up for 3 years of uncertainty of putting your life on hold. It sucked. She sure is a cutie pie though!!

Lazy Blogger
Hey folks
I’m still here. I just don’t feel much like blogging lately. So I guess I’ll do a brief update
- I’m in my friend Jody’s wedding tomorrow. YAY!
- Last night I went to a fun bachlorette party for her. Her mom gave her these GIANT HUMONGOUS leporad print panties as a gag gift. We fit one girl in each leg, that’s how big they were! It was sooo funny!!
- Emily will “dance” now if I demonstrate dancing first, or say “dancing, dancing” But she is so serious. She doesn’t smile at all when she does it, or afterwards when Tony and I are in fits of laughter. She just looks at us like we’re crazy. But the girl can definitely bust a move!! (I’m so old - using that phrase totally dates me!!)
- Em is spending the weekend with Grammy SheShe and Grampy. She just doesn’t know it yet!! But I do!! I’m simultaneosuly looking forward to a baby free weekend and terrified of missing her. LOL!
- Work continues to suck. I wish they would just give me severance and let me get out of here. I’m not enjoying the stress or the crankiness this situation makes me feel.
That’s it folks. Maybe next week I’ll be less lazy. Have a super weekend!
