Small Update
I still have no info on my TA. I did finally breakdown and call my agency yesterday and they said they aren’t even expecting TAs until late next week. *sigh* I hate how they make me feel like I’m a crazy lady for wanting to go to China and pick up my child.
ANNE asked if it was easier after referral to wait. Ah that would be a BIG FAT NO. It is easier, because I have her picture to look at, and I’ve met other folks adopting from the same orphanage/area and that is great. And I’m definitely busy, like officially going through all her clothes, making packing lists, investigating the weather in the parts of China we’re going to. But whereas when I was waiting for my referral I was anxious and counting down, now that I HAVE my referral I’m increasingly impatient. I want to go NOW! I’m not on edge about it anymore, because I know it’s going to happen. Before I was frustrated because it felt very unpredictable…and although it’s still a little unpredictable, it’s not to the level of pre-referral. But it is hard to wait here and know that someone else is taking care of her, and wondering how she, specifically, is doing. I’ll find myself driving to work going, ok, it’s 745 in the morning here, that makes it 945 at night where she is, I wonder if she is in her crib sleeping. Or is someone giving her a last bottle…she shouldn’t get that till 11pm… It’s just different. But not better really than the wait before hand. In fact, compared to myself BEFORE the referral I am way way more impatient about getting news about when we leave then I was about referrals. I think because you KNOW referrals come the first week of every month. So, there is no need to get upset on the 15th. Getting a TA is not an exact science it turns out.
OK, so this was supposed to be short. HA HA HA… but it is good to talk about. I always wondered how other people handled this. Now I know!
And another thing, all those people who said the pain of waiting during referral “fades away the moment you see her face” They’re full of crap!!

A Long Time Coming
Shanny made me the absolute BEST gift for Emily. Take a look...It's a super cool Growth Chart!

It's so big you can't see all the details in the one photo, so here are some up close ones..

It is in my favorite, favortie colors, purple and green and it has the most adorable bees and dragonflys and ladybugs on it. I ADORE it. Really. the amount of time she must of spent on this boggles my mind. I'm just not that crafty. And it should totally last for the next 14 years (or whenever she stops growing) It's great!! Thanks Shanny!!

Random Posts
I have been SUPER busy this week. I can’t understand it. I had nothing but time on my hands for months and months, and now I’m like a whirlwind. But I haven’t forgotten y’all.
Still no TA news. GRRRRR.
And I’ve asked my sister, Erin, to learn blogger so she can post for me while we’re in China if I can’t get it to work from there. So hopefully tonight/tomorrow, there will be a couple of “test” posts from her. Y’all be nice & friendly like you usually are.
Hopefully tonight will be calmer and I can leave work at a normal-ish time and get around to posting about Thanksgiving, and my big Tiara Girls Weekend. *hopefully*

Quick Post
I have 800 things to post about, but I’m in a hurry right now, so just 2 quick things.
1) Although OTHER people have their Travel Approvals (and some already have Consulate appointments!) my agency has a 12 pack of nothing. GRRRRR!
2) Today makes my sweet girl 9 months old. I wish she was here with me instead of way over there in China, but hopefully we’ll be together before she is 10 months. Wouldn’t that rock?!

Top 10
Borrowed from ShannyTop 10 Random Facts MeMe
Here are the rules:1. Let others know who tagged you.2. Players start with 10 random facts about themselves.3. Those who are tagged should post these rules and their 10 random facts.4. Players should tag other people and notify them they have been tagged.Ten totally random facts:
1. I have a freckle on the back on my right hand. When I was a kid, that was how I told my right from my left.
2. My dog as a kid was a mix lab and german sheppard that we called Buttons. Ya, I know, a GIANT dog called Buttons. She was great.
3. I’ve broken almost all my toes (not the big ones) by walking into things.
4. I walk like a duck.
5. I’m not entirely sure what my natural hair color would be now. Sad, but true.
6. For a long time I campaigned with my friends to have stupid people turned into fertilizer (solient green is people!) I didn’t want to eat them, but at least as fertilizer they would be contributing in some meaningful way, and more importantly not aggravating me with their stupidity any more!
7. I have a tattoo of a shamrock on my back. It’s pretty small, but it freaks my family out. They think everyone with a tattoo is either a weirdo or a gang member a la Hell’s Angels
8. I’m not a gang member
9. I really really want to believe in aliens. The E.T kind, not the X-Files kind.
10. My Mom and I promised each other that if we could communicate with each other after we’re dead, we will. But only in a non-scary kind of way. No 3 am visits allowed.
Ok, that’s it. So I tag Abby's Mom and of course, anyone else that wants to play!
PS I tried to post pics this morning, and Blogger isn’t playing nice. I’ll try again later.

The Big Catch Up
OK…as promised the big catch up post. I think I’ll use bullets
- My daughter’s full name Emily Marie Zhong. It’s official.
- I found out that all the babies in her SWI are called Feng Fu something or other so that is why we’re only keeping the Zhong bit
- I have gotten to know LINDA from the mission trip I had blogged about earlier. She is an awesome lady and I feel so incredibly lucky that she is willing to share not only photos of Emily from her pre-referral days but also her experience and recollections from the trip. I’ve gathered so much info about the orphanage and Emily’s current life. It is priceless to me!
- A big THANK YOU to everyone with info on care packages and traveler’s insurance. I’m definitely sending a care package, so a big shout out to Mary Mia who hooked me up with the Chinese character labels and letter to the orphanage. That totally rocks! I also did decide to get the traveler’s insurance. I think it’s worth it, just for the peace of mind.
- I’m still ga ga over my child. I look at her picture a hundred times a day. She is all my screen savers! I have more pictures from the referral package but I have no way to get them up here. They are actual photographs, so until I get time to go to a photo place and have them scanned, you are just going to have to take my word that she’s adorable in every single photo I have of her!
- I haven’t gotten much done yet, except to make list after list of things to do! It’s a little overwhelming. I did send back my approval of the referral on Friday for delivery on Sat (the 10th) so that is one thing done.
- My new nephew, Cody is adorable. It has been a HUGE week around here, two grandbabies in one week! So many pictures to share! Such happiness all around.

A BIG Day!
I promise the big catch up post is coming, but in the meantime,
Congrats to Mom & Dad who celebrate their 37th Anniversary today. WOO HOO!! 37 years is a LONG time. Very impressive!!
And best of luck to my sister, who will finally FINALLY have my nephew this morning via c-sect. Everyone wish her the best of luck and say happy thoughts that there will be good doctors by her bedside looking out for her and my nephew. We are all super excited to see what the little guy looks like. Hopefully in about 3 hours I’ll have some news. This is almost as nerve wracking as referral day!

Traveler's Insurance
Who out there in adoption land has bought traveler’s insurance before your big trip to China? Who did you use? How much did it cover? Did you have to use it? My agency is insisting that we get traveler’s insurance, which now that I think about it, sounds like a pretty darn good idea to me. I’m just wondering who among us has had to really use it. It makes me a little nervous to purchase “temporary” insurance, ya know?
Also, I have like 800 things to blog about, but I’ll have to do a big catch up post tonight.

Woah!
I finally calmed down enough to wonder what I was doing when Emily was born, on Feb 26. Turns out, I was obsessing about her. I think it's pretty cool, when you think about it. Here is what I posted on the 27th....it's like somehow, I knew she was there and waiting on me! weird, huh?

DONE
I’m officially done waiting. I can’t take it anymore! I want my Emily and I want her now!
NOW! NOW! NOW!!!
I’m so tired and cranky! This constitutes cruel and unusual punnishment. I’m DONE. Do you hear me China?! I’m DONE! Give me my kid!
Please? Pretty please with sugar on top?

Care Packages?
Calling all BTDT parents: Who sent a care package to the orphanage and how did you go about doing it? I found out today that we can send one. YAY! I’m dying to get a camera over there to take a few pictures and maybe a lovey for Miss Emily. I heard about Blessed Kids. But after looking at their site, it sounds like you can’t really add any of your own personally picked out items. So, what did y’all do? And do I need to include a translated letter? Where on earth do I get a letter translated? YIKES! HELP PLEASE!!
ugh
OK…I can’t see the picture I just posted. I’m so excited about it, I don’t want anyone to miss it. If you click HERE then scroll down. Emily is in a red shirt. There are two pictures of her. One she is being held up over the shoulder of a brown haired woman and one a blonde gal in a white t shirt is holding her, but there is another woman holding another baby in the picture too. It stuns me that other people have held her before me. I’m so jealous!! But I’m also really thrilled that she got some extra attention and that the playroom and orphanage got a big boost of support while she was there.
I’ve emailed with the woman who is our yahoo group who told me about this mission trip. This is how she remembers Emily “I am ecstatic for you, your family, and for Feng Fu Zhong. I know exactly which baby she is and she is precious!!! She smiled a lot and seemed so happy.“
More Pics!
There is a yahoo group for families that have adopted from Emily’s orphanage. This past summer (June 07) A church group did a mission trip to her orphanage. They painted the nursery and brought clothes and toys. AND they took pictures of all the babies. Here is our Emily, at about 4 months. Such cheeks! And she's looking right into the camera, like what is going on over there! Ill get 2 more photos later today from the agency, but these, these were completely unexpected and so precious. And to know that people held her and hugged her and stuff. I don’t know who this woman is, but I just want to hug her!

*update* I couldn't get the photo to post, so I removed it. You can see it on through the above link**

Still On Cloud Nine
Well I have to say today has been a terrific day. I can't stop smiling! And I can't stop looking at her picture!! Tony says he's in love already, and I have to admit, I'm feeling a big ga ga myself!
Tomorrow we get 2 more pics in the fedex package. I'm really excited about that. But we know so much about her already! Here are a few of the high lights.
She's a deep sleeper (thank the lord, I am a light sleeper and it stinks!)
She can roll front to back and back to front.
she can sit up by herself
She smiles readily and laugh out loud!! YES! I think I'm more excited about the laughing than anything else!
They describe her as active, restless and fond of imitating. How funny is that? Fond of imitating?! That's good, cause I love to make faces!!
We all just adore her. I can't stop gushing about her and showing off her picture to everyone. My boss adopted his first daughter a long time ago. He was looking at Emily's picture today and said to me the best thing today. "you can't even describe how you're feeling. It's like... a fullness inside" It was so apt. I really do feel full. Of love, and hope and happiness. Just joyful in the truest sense of the word. I wish you could bottle this stuff!!
Thank you so much for all your kind words. And to my commenter that said I had turned referral receiving into an xtreme sport, DUDE, you are so right!! I busted my gut reading that! This week has been completely extreme! And tomorrow will be even more happiness! It's so unbelievable. After years of reading other people's blogs and waiting and praying and hoping and now for it to finally happen! MAN! What an amazing day.
Still No Call
Still nothing...although T just gave me a stroke by calling to check in. Oh goodness!! I'm shaking like a leaf!!
No Calls Yet
I'm having a weird de ja vu to Monday where I kept looking at the phone going RING, RING DARN YOU!
But so far, it's not working!! I can't believe today is THE DAY. I finally get to see her face in a few hours. I have the camera ready, Shanny is on the way over to keep me company and take photos of the auspicious moment. I have pen, my list of questions. Come on phone RING!!!

MORE Exciting News!
Thanks to everyone who left a comment. It's been so heart warming to read all the congratulations. I can't wait to one day show Em this stuff, so she knows how everyone was waiting on her!
We have been SOOOO excited around here. I can hardly contain myself. Tony keeps going, a baby! My family and his family are thrilled. It's really just been too much. But in a good way. It's such a way better feeling than I had Monday night, that is for sure!
But now on to the MORE Exciting news part! My agency called this evening. They got the referrals EARLY! They are translating them tonight and I will have a picture TOMORROW! Can you believe it?!?! AND (yes there's more!) I found out her name and her birthday!! So here goes!!
My daughter (I love that!) is Feng Fu Zhong and she was born on Feb 26, 2007!! She's only 8 months old!
I totally had a dream on Sunday night that she was 8 months, I'm not even kidding you. I AM STOKED!! She's a Year of the Golden Pig baby, so she is supposedly very lucky. One of the translations for Fu is also lucky, but we have to double check the character tomorrow to be sure it's that "fu" and not some other one. I am so excited about this news!! I'm bouncing off the walls over here!!! I don't know how on earth I'll sleep tonight!! TOMORROW!!! Holy Moly!!!
OK..so for all you stalkers out there...they said before lunch I should have her picture, so I'll definitely be posting it up here as soon as I can. I have to make sure T sees her first of course, but other than that...it should be up! I'm flipping out. I can not believe this is finally happening to me. It's been such a long long wait. One more day and I'll finally know what she looks like!
Oh, and the best part, we might travel before Christmas!!!!! I gotta go make a list or something!

REFERRAL NEWS!
According to my agency, China “forgot” to mail my agency their package. Turns out we have a referral after all!! Since they didn’t mail it until yesterday, we won’t have Emily’s picture and specifics until Monday Nov 12. This sure beats waiting until next month, let me tell you!! We were able to learn a few details before they mailed the packages. So what I know right now is
All the babies matched through my agency were under 1 year. (YAY!)
The babies are in Chongqing at the Fengdu County Social Welfare Institute (orphanage). This part of China is known also as Sichuan (like the spicy food!) and is where the pandas are (the national zoo is there)
On Monday we will get her photos and all the specifics. Her exact birth date, weight, personality report. I never wished for a week to go by quickly so much!!
I AM SO EXCITED. Tony is almost speechless, and of course, my parents and sister and brother in law are thrilled!! I can’t even cry with happiness, because I’m like out of tears from yesterday’s nonsense. I feel so calm and peaceful now too, knowing I don’t have to go postal. LOL!! What a day!!!
Tuesday
First off…you guys rock. It helps a lot to know so many people care about what is going on with me.
Secondly, my sister did NOT have a baby last night. They observed her for an hour or so and then sent her home. She’s having contractions but I guess not the “real” kind. I don’t know how all that works. But it should be soon, and she says she is doing ok, so that is good news.
Thirdly: the referral catastrophe. I do NOT know that I will get a referral next month. So for all you people who are saying that as encouragement, please stop. I know you mean well, and your intent is totally to make me feel better, I get that. And I appreciate it. But I don’t know why we didn’t get a referral NOW, so assuming I’m in for sure next month is premature in my opinion. My agency says that “several agencies last month didn’t get referrals either, even though they had the correct LID and no explanation was ever given by the CCAA” I have not heard that. I have not heard of anyone skipped last month whose agency didn’t jump on it and get it resolved. I asked this morning if those people that got skipped got their referrals this time, because I wanted reassurance. She seemed…alarmed that I would ask that question. “Oh I don’t know, it’s much too early to know that yet” THEN WHY ARE YOU TELLING ME?!? In any case, someone from the agency that speaks Chinese was supposed to call CCAA last night and double check what is going on with us. I had called this morning to find out what they found out and was told it was too early they hadn’t talked to her yet. That was after 9, so I love how they are making this a priority.
If I sound angry and bitter and resentful, then you are reading this correctly. I am so angry I am literally beside myself. My agency is not doing everything they could. They seem to think that A) there isn’t a problem B) treating me with any type of kindness is asking too much.
I have asked the coordinator to call me after she speaks with whoever spoke with the CCAA last night. Keep your fingers crossed for me that I learn SOMETHING of value this morning.
Also…I am generally a pacifist. But right now I want to beat the crap out of people. So if you could send me some peaceful, calming thoughts, I would appreciate it. I’m afraid I might go postal. That would not look good on the old home study, ya know? ;-)

Why I Love Tony
He let me cry on his shoulder for a good 30 minutes.
He went out and got us the good, greasy pizza for dinner.
He got me a gift card for TWO massages while he was waiting on the pizza, because he knows I had a rough day.
I love that boy.
In other news, my sister is in labor (she thinks!) and is on the way to the hospital. Say prayers that it will go good and that I'll have a new nephew here soon. At least one happy thing could happen today!!
ugh
My agency is insisting that I didn't make the cut off because the CCAA box says BEFORE Dec 8th. They called them last night and asked if we should expect a package and we're told no.
Now I'm pissed about this for several reasons
1) I know someone in real life whose LID was 11/30. Last month it was worded the same way and she got a referral. So WHY would I not get a referral this month?!?
2) If they knew about this LAST NIGHT, as my agency claims, then why did they not tell me until after 1pm this afternoon, and then only in response to my email asking what was up?
3) Why are other people with my LID getting a referral today!?!? Not that I don't want other people to get a referral, because I do, I just want to be one of them too!
I've gone past being devestated and moved into unbelievably angry. I appreciate your thoughts and hugs and junk.
Devestated
My agency says I will not get a referral this month. The CCAA did not mail them anything and they are not expecting to receive anything because my LID is Dec 8th and the box says “before 12/8/2005”. They talked to CCAA last night who says they didn’t send us anything.
Never mind that I’ve seen other people with my LID get the call today. My agency apparently is done looking into this matter. I’ll just have to wait until next month.
I’m going to throw up now. PLEASE I am begging you if you have an LID of Dec 8th and you got a referral will you please email me your info so I can bring it up with my agency? Thanks.
Any Guesses?
Since I have some free time on my hands…how about putting in a guess about Emily for the following? It will be a fun way to pass the time. OK Here goes!
1) her age
2) What city she is from
3) If she’ll have hair or not!!
OK…let’s see who comes closest! YAY I can’t believe I’m going to know these things about her soon!!
Still Nothing
I broke down and emailed my agency at 1045. It’s now 1215 and I haven’t heard from them. Really, they usually are great about writing back to me, even if it’s to say we don’t know or whatever. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that this lack of info is because they have the package but they are awaiting translation. That’s a stretch and a whole lot of wishful thinking on my part, I know.
Anyways, I’m going to go grab some lunch and force myself away from my computer for 15 mins or so. I need the break. Hopefully when I come back there will be an email from my agency!!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY
HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my sister! I hope you have a great day Erin!
And, Happy 2nd Birthday to my god daughter, McKenna! It will be very cool if I get info about Emily today so I can share it with 2 very special girls!!
No, no news yet….i’m debating about bugging my agency….
Nothing Yet
It’s still very early, only 920, but nothing yet from my agency.
I’m supposed to be working.
HA HA HA HA

WE'RE IN!!
Thanks to Shanny who checked the internet for me, I just found out that it is OFFICIAL
WE'RE IN!!! The cut off is Dec 8th!!! OH MY GOD!!! I am so flipping out excited right now!! Poor Tony, I let out this blood curdling scream of joy, and I probably scared a couple years off his life! OH WELL!!!
HERE WE COME EMILY!!!!

Sat Night
Well...today was a bust. I didn't find any dresses I liked at all, and neither did Jody. But we had fun anyways, so that is what counts.
A big shout out to HEDGETOAD, who turned me on to Mormon dresses. That is exactly, EXACTLY what I was looking for! A modest dress with little cap sleeves that isn't ugly. I found some great ones at LatterDayBride.com (the hyperlink thingy isn't working) However, I do not live in Utah and it seems that was the only store you could go to. I suppose I could order one and just *hope* it fit and junk, but with a wedding dress, I really don't want to chance it. So I emailed them and asked if they had a store that carried that line around here. Now that I know what I'm looking for, I feel so relieved. I hope the Mormon people don't mind that I'm not Mormon but I want to wear their dresses. There isn't a rule or something, is there? Surely not? Surely anybody who wants a dress with sleeves can buy one there. I had a great friend in high school, Lisa C, who was Mormon. I loved hanging out with her and it stunk when she moved to Canada in our Junior year. Oh well...I'm totally off topic now.
Anyways, One day down, and another night to sleep through and then it will be SUNDAY and then almost Monday! YAY!!
Sleep tight y'all!
Saturday
It's Saturday morning.
I finally slept the whole night through last night. It was good. I left work early, went home and took a nap, got the oil on my car changed (that took 2 hours! grrrrr!) had Mexican with Tony and finally came back home and crawled into bed aroun 830. I slept straight through until 720 which is awesome. I feel soo much better.
Today I'm going to look at wedding dresses with Jody. She's trying them on, I'm browsing for dresses with sleeves!!! We're going to a place in Burlington NC, which is about 2 hours from here, so that will be a good distraction for me. Although, just in case, I'm bringing a really good pen, my camera and my list of referral questions. Like a good Girl Scout, I'm ready!
It occured to me this morning that this is the last weekend of my entire life without her face in my head. The last weekend where I won't know the details of her eyes and the shape of her face. Can you believe it? I can't. It's all very surreal right now. It's been a long journey. This month marks 3 years since I submitted my names to agencies to hold a place as a single. 3 YEARS. At the very least, I can tell Emily that she was loved for longer than she lived!! And not just by me either, by my whole family, and now by Tony and his whole family. His parents are sooo excited! I love them for that. I don't know what it feels like to be adopted, but I do know what it feels like to be surrounded by people who just adore you. It's the best. And I am so happy that Emily will get to feel that too. I want so much for her, but starting off life surrounded by people that already love you, that's such a great place to start, don't you think? ahh...the adoption hormones at work. Now I'm crying again. I'm such a goober!
Well, I'm off to shower and run to the grocery store before our big day of wedding dresses begins. 60 hours or so till Emily. HEE HEE

Throwing in the Towel
Well, it’s not going to be today. It’s ok.
I’m completely and utterly exhausted. I forgot to eat lunch today people. I FORGOT to EAT. I have never ever never done that. Never. I just now remembered and ate some crackers. But I’m done. I’m a zombie. I’m finishing up some stuff at work and heading home. I have to sleep. And maybe have a little cry. Tomorrow I’ll feel like a new woman, I’m sure.
Hanging by a Thread
You guys are great. You are all so supportive. It’s nice to know you all are rooting me on!!
I’m dying over here today. I was really REALLY hoping someone would get the call today with my LID so that I would know that I was really & truly in. Right now, I’m very hopeful, but I will just be crushed if they got the cut off date wrong and I don’t make it. Every time the phone rings, I’m jumping a mile. I keep picking up my cell phone to make sure I’m getting a good signal. I can’t think. I can’t work. I can’t sleep. In other words, I’m a total wreck.
I will never make it to Monday. Never.

False Labor?
It appears that I got all excited this morning over nothing. No one got referrals today after all. BOOOO!!!! Looks like it might be a few more days yet before I get any calls with anything good.
Still jumping when the phone rings though. *sigh* I don’t know how I’m going to make it through the next few days. I’m completely exhausted just from this morning. I’m hoping SO MUCH that at the very least the CCAA updates their web page this evening while I’m asleep so that we know for sure and certain that the cut off is indeed Dec 8th. That will help make the weekend go better.
And I haven’t even mentioned Halloween, even though we had a very nice one. Below is my nephew, the monkey. Isn’t he a cutie? And I took pictures of the house and me and Tony all dressed up with the new camera yesterday too, but I haven’t figured out uploading to my computer yet. That’s tonight’s activity!!
The Countdown Starts
Many, many agencies are saying that the cut off is Dec 8th. Without any actual proof, I’m about 95% sure that I’ll get a referral this batch. It might not be for a few days, it could be this afternoon.
I’m torn between bouncing up and down like a maniac and wanting to be sick.
I went ahead and printed out a list of questions to ask when I get “THE CALL”. I have a copy at work, a copy by the phone at home, and I’m seriously contemplating putting a copy in my car. Short of that, I did go ahead and put a small pad and a working pen in my purse. I’ve picked up and looked at my cell phone like 13 times this morning, just to make sure I have a signal.
Work is out the window. I’m here, but I’m completely useless. I’m trying to do mindless things like file. Except, I have to keep singing the alphabet song, because I can’t remember the letters anymore!!!
I’m falling apart over here. I keep taking deep breaths. Will that actually work?!? Or will I hyperventilate?!?!?
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
