A really interesting, thought provoking post from another transracial family. Something to file away in the back of my mind…it’s going to come up at some point. Better to have at least some thoughts percolating about this issue now, so I’m not smacked upside the head with it later. What do y’all think?

 

 

 

Me, Pregnant

 

This is me, 28 weeks pregnant.  It’s not the best picture of me, but you get the point. (or the bump as the case may be)

 

 

This morning we had another ultrasound. A couple months ago they thought my placenta looked low (but not scary low) so they wanted to be sure it had moved up.  It’s all fine now.  And we got to check out baby girl again, which is always fun.   It is truly amazing that they can see the heart beating and her little bones and the amount of spinal fluid and junk. It’s astounding when you think about it.  But she is in there doing just fine.  She is facing my spine and she was all bent up with her feet by her face! LOL so technically she is breach for now, but we have tons of time for her to move into normal position.  The tech says she is weighing in at 2.9 lbs already which sounds big to me, but I guess it’s normal.  I somehow managed to lose ½ a pound since my last appt, but it doesn’t appear that matters to the baby whatsoever!!   So bring on the cookies! yummm!   

 

Tony is so adorable at these ultrasound checkups. He always gets teary eyed and emotional. He is SOOO excited to meet this baby!  He cried all out when we met Emily, (well, so did I!)  so I’m sure it will be another tear-fest this go round too.  I don’t cry at the ultrasounds though…I just get like giggly and sooo happy. It’s kinda nice to put a picture with the poking.

 

So, that’s the pregnancy update for now.

Happy Valentine’s Day from my cutie pie!

 

 

Em is having a little trouble with parties. She thinks every celebration is a birthday. And February is a particularly party filled month. Chinese New Year, Valentines AND her actual birthday!  The kid is on a sugar high most of the month! LOL  At least she is a cutie pie while she’s running around like a mad woman. So today on the way to school, she kept asking if it was Valentine’s birthday. heh!   And she was really upset that we brought Valentine cards and candy for her friends, but none were for her.  I kept explaining that her friends would give her things once she got to school, but she didn’t believe me and I got a lot of “I don’t LIKE YOU Mommy!” on the ride to daycare.  That didn’t make me too happy, but once she got there and saw that I wasn’t lying, she was happier.   I never thought about it, but ya, I guess it would hurt my feelings if I didn’t think I was getting anything for Valentines, but I had a big bag of loot to give other people.    It’s strange sometimes to realize that you really do have to learn EVERYTHING…you don’t just figure stuff out.   I’m sure she’ll be a happy bouncy girl when I get her tonight after work.
