I'm Back from the Beach!

I’m back from the beach. I had a wonderful time. I’m all tan and relaxed now. Well, I was until I went back to work. Now I’m just tanned. The relaxed bit flew out the window!! Anyways, we stayed at Emerald Isle, off the coast of NC. It is a beautiful beach, and the water is really green and beautiful. (the name Emerald Isle comes from the color of the ocean there) Pictures forthcoming. My home computer is still not working, mostly because I haven’t had the time to bring it into the store. They want me to make a same day appointment. (Like I have time for that. sheesh.)



In adoption news – absolutely nothing to report. Rumors abound about when this month’s referrals will come, and how many days they will cover. Whenever we actually know something official I’ll post it up here. Otherwise, I must make a note to self to NOT to do adoption math fresh off vacation. It is way depressing. Calculating how long it will be until my referral comes, how much time I can take off work, how the heck I’m going to save X amount of money by A, B or C time frame. (since I don’t know when I’m getting my referral exactly, I have to plan every scenario) You should see the spreadsheets I keep. In my real life, my job is in finance. Yes, I’m a bean counter. I never in a million years thought I would be doing this, but it turns out to be fairly handy to have these skills- especially since starting the adoption!! And nothing makes me happier than having a nice clean spreadsheet all color coded and filled in with sums. I’m SUCH a dork!!! Poor Emily. I won’t be able to help with her math homework unless it’s in spreadsheet form!

I'M ON VACATION!!

OK, so my vacation doesn’t officially start for another 2 hours, but I’m already in a vacation state of mind. My family and I are off to the beach for a whole week. WOO HOO! I can not wait to be a beach bum and to sleep in a bit and read my book and soak up some rays. Plus, being away from the internet, and the adoption rumors for a week will be good for me. And who knows, when I get back, there could be a new batch of referrals on it’s way out. So, I hope all of you have a good week. I’m on vacation baby!!

 

 

 

Holy Cow!!

Did you see this news story?  A woman in LA gave birth to quadruplets; normally a pretty overwhelming experience. The kicker? She has 3 year old triplets waiting for her at home!!!  Holy cow! She will have 7 children under the age of 3. The poor woman was like, I’m happy the babies and I am healthy, but I don’t know. No kidding. I would be flipping out if I had 7 kids under 3. And the poor couple lives in a one bedroom apartment. I don’t understand how they are going to make it. I hope pampers or huggies or someone decides it would be a great publicity stunt to give them free diapers for a year (or three).  I don’t know if I’m going to be able to handle 1 baby. Could you even imagine 7 small children in a 1 bedroom house?!?!  Crikey!

 

 

Computer Woes

My Mac Mini died. It won’t turn on. I don’t know what happened, because one day it was working and the next it wasn’t. But it is making me very sad and a little irate. I just bought the darn thing in April. The good thing is that it is still under warranty, and I bought the protection plan, so it should be free to repair.  Still, I’m majorly bummed. I called Apple last night and I have to bring it in to the store to talk to one of the “Genius” technicians. And I have to make a same day appointment to do that. *sigh*  The other thing, the guy wanted me to make the appointment ON LINE. I was like hello moron, my computer won’t turn on! That’s why I’m on the phone with you!!!  So, sometime during work today, I’ll have to go to the website and make an appointment. Hopefully it will be a quick fix. I’ll keep y’all posted.

Still Alive

It’s been a week since I posted! How time flies! First thanks to the get well soon wishes. They must have worked, because I’m feeling a lot better. I still have a bit of a cough, but hopefully that will be gone in just another day or two.  

 

Not much on the adoption front, except that tomorrow makes 7 Months since LID!  I think I can say that I’m at the halfway point to referral by now. I still wonder if Emily has been born yet. I guess it’s hard to know. I bet she has been. I’m not sure how I feel about that. Part of me is excited, because if she has already been born, then I’ll get her soon. But if she is already born, maybe she is already in the SWI? I wonder who is looking out for her. Who is giving her hugs? I hope she gets good nannies that really like babies.  So much in adoption is just up in the air.

 

And since this is my blog after all,  I’m going to give a big shout out to TONY and MARY. It was really nice talking to you on the phone last night. I hope we meet soon!
