Ahhhh the Joys of Motherhood

How can someone so tiny smell sooo much?!?!   I swear to you that Emily had an a$$plosion this evening of monumental proportions. And all the while we are hosing her off and trying not to gag, she's just laughing and smiling at us like she's having tea with the queen.  That is definitely not in the brochure about being a mom, trust me. LOL  Still it could be worse. She's not sick I don't think, so at least she is happy about her bodily functions. ick.  I imagine the bigger she gets, the bigger her messes will get, right? Something to look forward to, I'm sure.  

The other monumental thing today is that it seems Emily has really truly assigned meaning to the words Mama and Dada.  I kind of thought she was doing it the last few days, but she babbles a lot, so of course, its hard to know for sure. I WANTED it to be true but tonight it definitely was. My little girl thinks it's big fun to stand in the highchair.  Yes, she stands in it.  Mommy doesn't think that is so great. In fact, it gives Mommy a stroke, but that is another story.  Anyways, she's standing in the high chair, so I took her out and put her in the playpen, where she can stand all she want and not give herself a concussion or me a heart attack.   She sits there for a while and then climbs to a standing position so she can see me better. She looked right at me said "Mama" and held up her little arms.  It was all over then. Of course, I rushed over and picked her up!!   Later tonight Tony was holding her and playing and she was looking at him saying Dada dada dada.  It's sooo cool. It's the best feeling ever. It's so amazing how much I think I love her and then I find out I love her even more than that!  I know we've only had her a short time, but it's impossible to think of life without her in it now. 

Sort of makes up for the poop story, doesn't it?

So Much fun, so little time

    
It is practically impossible to blog and have an infant. Those of you who have twins or GASP triplets, my hat is off to you!  I adore spending time with Emily. She is a little love and does something new and amazing every single day. But man oh man. I'm WORN OUT!  I also am gaining amazing biceps from picking her up and down 400 times a day! ha ha ha...  Seriously though, how on EARTH do people keep up with multiple children?  I don't think I could do it. And you know that crazy family in Arkansas or wherever that has like 18 kids whose names all start with the letter J?  That couple should have their head examined. There is NO WAY you can spend time with 18 children!  You'd lose it. Really.  I don't know how they do anything! How do you even answer the phone if you have that many kids that young? 

A few days ago we celebrated 1 month since we got Emily. I wrote a great blog post, in my head, because I never actually got the chance to come and write it down. But it was a good one trust me. I can't believe it's only been a month since we got to meet this fabulous amazing child.  Everything about her makes me happy. 

Also, I attended a bridal showcase this past weekend with my pal Jody.  I got at least 40lbs worth of flyers and business cards. Still no real thoughts on what we want to do as far as the wedding goes.  Except, since I got to taste like 14 different wedding cakes, my vote is for almond flavored. YUMMY.   Is it horrible that I thought the best part of the bridal showcase was tasting the cake?!? LOL

Things Emily Can do!

OK...time for a little Mom bragging. Here is a very small list of some of things Emily can do.

• She can crawl. When we first got her, she wasn't crawling much, but now, she can really crawl. She made it clear across the living room last night, laughing the whole way!
• She can hold her own bottle, although most of the time I (or Tony) help, you know for the bonding. 
• She can stand up if she is holding on to the couch or me.  let me make that more clear, she can't pull up yet, but if I get her in a standing position, she can stay there for several minutes.  She has the Elvis hips though, so she is still pretty wobbly! But she is so pleased with herself when she does it!

So that's about it. She laughs out loud which is awesome, and she loves it when I sing to her or we have music on. She is eating all sorts of food(baby foods) without any issues. She's just a doll.  The only thing she really doesn't like is bath time. She used to scream bloody murder every time we brought her anywhere near the tub. I've started to get in the bath with her and she does much better that way. She actually splashed the water around a bit the other night. She's so tiny I can put the wash cloth on her back like a superman cape!! HA HA HA   I think in a few more weeks she'll be a lot happier in there.  

So that's it for today.  Today makes only 2 months since I saw Emily's face for the first time. It's been a CRAZY couple of months, but I'm soo soo glad now. Tony and I look at each other all the time and just are amazed that are lives are so blessed. It's really great!! (even at 315 in the morning, although I explained to Emily she is MUCH cuter at 315 in the AFTERNOON!!!) 

Still Alive and Kicking

Hi guys

I can't believe how long it's been since I've had a chance to post. It's been a big adjustment, taking care of Miss Emily and not working and all, but I think we are getting the hang of it. Emily is a blessing in so many ways. She has the best laugh and she learns new stuff every day and it's all really fun.     and really tiring!  when she goes to sleep at night I pretty much get in bed right after her!! In spite of that we are getting along really well and she eats great and sleeps really well most nights.  Last night she was up at 330- 5 but then she slept till 915, so i can't complain too much.

Emily had her first dr visit last Wed. Everything looks great. My little peanut only weighed 15.9 lbs but the doc said she was perfectly proportioned, so that's a great sign.  The medical exam in Guangzhou weighed her at 18lbs, so don't take what they say as anywhere near accurate.  That whole exam was a joke.  anyways, the doc said Emily is about 8-9 months developmentally and for a 10 month old, we were very pleased with that. she does better every day, curious about everything, and I'm sure in a few months she'll be caught up completely.  She's helping me type now, my little Einstein. HA HA HA...ok, she's just sitting on my lap eating my Ipod cord, but still!!

Hope to be able to post more often now that we're getting in the swing of things.  Took longer than I thought to be honest, but all in all, the last few weeks have been amazing.
